Mechanical Controls Engineer
OEI (O'Brien Engineering & Architecture) is seeking a full-time Mechanical Controls Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our team. This position is a great opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative MEP team. The Mechanical Controls Engineer position will collaborate with a multidisciplinary A/E team and will work on municipal, land development, private, industrial, healthcare, military/defense, and other projects using Revit and AutoCAD software.
Mechanical Controls Engineer Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical design in MEP related projects working alongside and coordinating with all disciplines and clients.
- Working knowledge of building and building system codes and standards: (IBC, IECC, IMC, ASHRAE, standards and NFPA standards.
- Supervise the installation of the designed systems and equipment.
- Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.
- Attend client meetings and represent the mechanical interests of the firm.
- Design mechanical systems, air and water side and related controls.
- Assists in determining and developing project scope.
- Assists in collection of field data, including directing subconsultants.
Mechanical Controls Engineer Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience designing mechanical HVAC systems for commercial buildings, health care and federal projects required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, time management required.
- Detailed knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes and standards: UPC, IPC, IMC, NFPA, ASHRAE & IBC.
- Design background and understanding of systems and applications in buildings and facilities, including coordination with other disciplines – mechanical, electrical, civil, structural and architectural.
- Proficiently use Revit, building load and energy modeling software (OEI uses Trane Trace 700), Bluebeam, AutoCAD
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (or license in another state with the ability and commitment to obtain Texas license within 12 months.)
- LEED accreditation (preferred).
