Description
The Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication (PTIC) at the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) and the Council of the Humanities invites applications for an appointment as a Translator in Residence for one academic semester, either fall or spring, during academic years 2027-28 and 2028-29. Interviews for both years may take place in January 2027. The primary rank will be Professional Specialist.
The successful candidate for each semester will be an established translator into English with projects currently in progress, and will be expected to contribute to PIIRS, PTIC, the Council, and/or the Program in Creative Writing by mentoring students and participating in relevant aspects of these Programs, In consultation with the Director of PTIC, they may be asked to visit relevant classes and/or to run workshops in the areas of the theory and practice of translation in collaboration with faculty teaching the Program’s core courses. The Translator in Residence must hold weekly office hours.
In addition to salary and benefits, PTIC will provide up to $2,500 in reimbursement for expenses associated with relocating to Princeton, NJ. The program will also provide shared office space and a laptop computer.
