Job Description

2nd Shift Lead
Shift: 4PM-2AM

Primary Expectations (site specific):

Oversee the lumpers and assign the IB and OB tasks throughout the shift.

Ensure that the quality standards are adhered to

Review prior day’s loads for accuracy

Support and assist the Warehouse Manager wherever needed.

Training, hiring process, reporting, system maintenance, etc.

Record and track the trailer numbers on the scheduled OB sheet.

Keep DockLink current with ALL IB and OB information.

Ensure that all doors are closed, and trailers are unlocked after the IBs and OBs are complete.

Review the time clock to ensure that the lumpers are punching in and out correctly, and that there aren’t any missing punches.

Track the hours for new hires and update their status to “Training” as needed.

Ensure that the KPI is updated and kept current with the relevant data.
General Expectations:

Partner with Warehouse Manager and other site leaders, as needed, to achieve overall business and mission objectives, including providing the best customer relations experience possible.

Oversee the daily operations of the site through direct interface and communication with internal staff.

Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to ensure that goals and expectations are in line and then communicate such expectations to the team and incorporate them into all aspects of the operation.

Manage assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring that decisions made are vetted for risk/reward and short/long term implications to both our organization and the customer.

Adhere to and enforce company safety policies.

Manage all customer-requested metrics, expectations, and KPIs.

Ensure that the site follows current policies, procedures, and guidelines established by corporate and Sr. Leadership.

Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal departments (e.g., Payroll, HR, and Invoicing Team).

Participate in weekly staff meetings, focused on safety, training, planning, operational effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Model key leadership behaviors and ensure the highest levels of safety, quality, and service excellence for team members.

Identify and engage top talent and develop team members to their fullest potential within the organization.

Assist with building a team that will solve day-to-day operational challenges and reach short- and long-term performance goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Daily Expectations:

Communicate to the site Warehouse Manager the status on labor, goals, workload projections, issues (if any).

Ensure that system data I.e., Timeclock, DocLink, is being updated timely.

Ensure daily internal and external reporting and pass down reports are being submitted.

Maintain timely communication via e-mail or phone with Warehouse Manager and/or Sr. Leadership (when applicable).

Cover critical open positions, if needed, until they have successfully been filled.
Weekly Expectation:

Ensure that payroll is processed accurately, on time, and that you have verified it for accuracy prior to it being submitted to payroll for processing.

Participate in weekly safety meetings.

Verify proper staffing levels

Be prepared to communicate, during the staffing meetings, the opportunities, challenges, and planning efforts that yielded success or the obstacles that impacted your operation from obtaining the goal and the plan to address said obstacles for immediate success.

Work with the Warehouse Manager to make corrections if margins are not in line.
Monthly Expectation:

Review P&L, with Warehouse Manager for week over week performance. Identify and report the cause of negative variances, if any.

Participate in safety meetings as required.
Quarterly Expectation:

Participate in the quarterly performance review of employees.

Identify strengths and coordinate personal development training needs.

Establish Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) to strengthen leadership and employees.
Annual Expectation:

Participate in the annual performance review of employees.

Establish PIP, as necessary.
