The ideal Controls Engineer II is an experienced automation professional with strong troubleshooting, programming, and project management skills. What You'll Do

As a Controls Engineer II, you will provide technical leadership and support for industrial automation, electrical controls, and plant floor networks at our Toledo facility. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and external partners to improve equipment performance, execute automation projects, and support reliable production.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting electrical controls, automation systems, and related equipment issues in partnership with Maintenance
  • Providing formal and informal training to maintenance and operations personnel
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to electrical infrastructure and automation systems
  • Collecting and analyzing production and equipment data to identify losses and improve performance
  • Maintaining and improving control systems that support food safety, product quality, and production reliability
  • Maintaining plant floor automation servers and related infrastructure
  • Developing and modifying FactoryTalk View, Ignition, and PanelView applications
  • Troubleshooting, programming, and modifying PLC logic to optimize equipment performance
  • Configuring and supporting PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, servo systems, and other automation equipment
  • Scoping, designing, and executing electrical and automation projects
  • Supporting capital projects and providing controls expertise for plant improvement initiatives
  • Maintaining and supporting electrical infrastructure, including transformers and switchgear
  • Troubleshooting and correcting plant floor network issues
  • Leading and maintaining the facility electrical safety program while providing safety training as needed
  • Updating electrical schematics, control drawings, and documentation to reflect field changes
  • Maintaining an audit-ready environment and supporting regulatory compliance requirements
  • Performing other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred
  • Equivalent relevant controls and automation experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience troubleshooting, programming, and implementing industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading controls-related work for equipment upgrades, automation initiatives, and capital projects
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience programming and configuring PLCs, HMIs, drives, and related automation equipment
  • Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of SCADA experience, including system development and support
  • Experience with FactoryTalk View and Ignition preferred
  • Experience with ACP ThinManager and plant floor thin-client environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and industrial power distribution systems
  • Knowledge of industrial automation networking, including Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Remote I/O, and Data Highway systems
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and project management abilities
