Job Title: Project Controls Specialist

Summary:
The Project Controls Specialist supports cost control, planning, scheduling, forecasting, and reporting activities for engineering and construction projects. This role works closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to provide accurate, timely, and consistent project performance data. The Project Controls Specialist applies advanced project controls methodologies and systems to identify risks, trends, opportunities, and corrective actions throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and cost-to-complete metrics.
• Support change management activities by evaluating cost impacts associated with scope adjustments.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules using Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools.
• Integrate engineering, procurement, and construction activities into project schedules.
• Perform critical path analysis, schedule risk assessments, and progress evaluations.
• Prepare dashboards, earned value reports, performance metrics, and project controls reporting packages for project teams and clients.
• Identify and communicate project trends, risks, and recovery plan opportunities to project management.
• Ensure project controls data accuracy and consistency within company systems and databases.
• Develop integrated cost and schedule reports utilizing earned value management principles.
• Perform forecasting and variance analysis to support project decision-making.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to collect, validate, and maintain project cost and schedule information.
• Participate in project review meetings and provide project controls support for decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and client requirements.
• Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the project controls team.
• May coordinate and mentor junior project controls personnel.
• Some travel may be required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and project cost management systems such as EcoSys, Prism, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience supporting both project cost controls and scheduling functions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, leadership, clients, and stakeholders.
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move throughout the office for daily tasks and meetings.
