Responsibilities

This is a full-time remote position that can be located anywhere in the U.S

The Director, Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for leading Enlyte's infrastructure engineering organization, encompassing cloud engineering, data center infrastructure, network and firewall management, and operating systems (Windows/Linux). This role owns the strategic evolution from on-premises data centers to multi-cloud (AWS & Azure), including the decommissioning of legacy facilities, cloud migration infrastructure readiness, and establishment of cloud-native network capabilties.

The role holds direct accountability for vendor and cloud consumption portfolio, manages engineers, and requires cross-functional program governance across multiple organizational boundaries. This leader will drive complex, multi-year infrastructure transformation while maintaining operational excellence for production systems and ensuring the organization successfully transitions to a product delivery model.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Vice President, Technology Engineering & Platforms

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the infrastructure engineering function including cloud engineering, compute/server, network, OS/Linux, and firewall management
  • Define and execute the data center exit strategy with complete plans, timelines, risk assessments, cost models, and cross-functional governance across Server, Resiliency, PMO, Managed Services, Facilities, and Finance
  • Drive the enterprise network architecture strategy for multi-cloud environments, including SD-WAN, VPN, east-west inspection, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity
  • Manage the enterprise firewall platform (physical and cloud-native NGFW), including vendor lifecycle management, capacity planning, patching, and renewal strategy
  • Direct OS/compute engineering operations including Linux/Windows patching strategy, and server lifecycle management
  • Manage a portfolio of strategic vendor relationships, including commercial negotiations, SLA governance, renewal strategy, and RFP development
  • Drive network and infrastructure readiness for cloud migration programs, including VPN cutover governance, load testing, and production traffic transition
  • Lead major incident response for infrastructure; own PIR/AAR process and drive systemic availability improvements
  • Build and develop a high-performing infrastructure engineering team; identify skill gaps, manage performance, develop talent pipelines, and leverage managed services staff augmentation
  • Ensure infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency, support platform compatibility, and enable the broader organizational transition to a product/service delivery model
  • Provide regular, transparent reporting on infrastructure program status, cloud spend, vendor portfolio health, and risk posture to executive leadership


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or IT operations with progressive leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience leading data center migrations, cloud transformations, or decommissioning programs
  • Expertise in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure) including infrastructure-as-code, landing zones, networking, and cost management
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise network architecture (SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, cloud networking, load balancing)
  • Experience with firewall platforms (NGFW, cloud-native firewalls) and network security fundamentals
  • Track record of cross-functional program leadership across multiple organizational boundaries
  • People leadership: building and managing teams of 10+, talent development, and performance management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence senior technology leaders

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CCNP/CCIE, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent)
  • Experience in insurance, claims, or financial services technology environments
  • Experience managing managed services relationships (outsourced infrastructure operations, NOC oversight)
  • Experience with organizational transformation from project-based to product/service delivery models
  • Experience with infrastructure divestiture planning (lease exits, hardware disposition, contract termination)
  • Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices
  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX administration, middleware platforms (JBoss, WebLogic), and server lifecycle management

The expected base pay for this position ranges from $130,796 - $185,000 annually, and will be based on a number of additional factors including skills, experience, and education.
