Job Description
Position Summary/Objective
The Production Supervisor – 2nd Shift will oversee all second shift operations to ensure efficient and effective production of product.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise the manufacturing, packaging, and warehousing of all related media products on second shift in accordance with established procedures and specifications
- Monitor all second shift team member activity and coach them effectively as needed
- Practice and enforce safety practices regarding work place activity and use of equipment
- Provide on-the-job training to manufacturing, packaging, and warehousing personnel as required
- Assign work schedule to the various work centers on a timely basis to assure proper machinery and labor utilization
- Interface with Production Management, Production Planning, Quality Assurance, and Machine Maintenance team members as needed
- Demonstrate knowledge of all essential manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse processes, machinery, and equipment
- Use analytical skills to monitor production output and check for compliance with specifications
- Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including ability to spot issues in efficiency and productivity and suggest improvements
- Generate and submit reports on employee performance and progress
- Use coaching and training skills to onboard new employees, including instruction on safe behavior in all aspects of the job
- Participate in hiring process for new team members
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
Additional Preferred Skills, Experience, and Certifications
- Four or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, including management responsibilities
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the supervisor is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for sustained periods of time. The employee frequently is required to use hands, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Special Working Conditions / Travel Requirements
This job operates in a manufacturing production and warehouse environment. Little to no travel is expected.
