Position Overview

The Onsite Dishwasher/Porter supports the Food Team to ensure that kitchens, all FOH including microkitchens areas and equipment are clean, organized and well maintained. This position is a critical position and will need to act quickly in a high-volume, fun and growing office food environment. A collaborative team environment, you will take the lead in much of the cleanliness, organization and safety that makes our food program run.

Our Workplace business unit prepares and serves food for a variety of Bay Area companies and institutions. Ingredients are carefully selected from organic, local, independent farms - prioritizing purchasing from BIPOC and women-owned purveyors. Prepared to satisfy refined palettes and a diverse range of dietary sensitivities and preferences, our nourishing meals aim to delight employees. Our Workplace business unit offers multiple food program solutions to meet our clients' needs.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Wash, dry, stock and maintain all dishes and cutlery daily
  • Assist in setting up plates, napkins, silverware, etc. for lunch service.
  • Maintain trash, recycling and compost stations in the kitchen and micro kitchen areas
  • Clean and maintain client micro kitchen and spaces in accordance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Provide assistance and support to client and team members as needed
  • Assist Food team with lunch service, deliveries and dishes.
  • Assist the Snack & Drink team as needed with brewing coffee and restocking products
  • Perform end-of-day closing procedures for the dishwashing area, including sanitizing the dish machine and adjacent counters, clearing the grease trap solids, and emptying the trash compactor.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in kitchens, commercial or hospitality facilities
  • Experience and knowledge of commercial food service dish stations, general understanding for operating industrial dish machines and handwashing delicate items or large pots preferred.
  • Attention to Detail; ensuring all glassware, silverware, and cookware meet strict health and sanitation standards.
  • Reliability and punctuality are required. Showing up on time and working solo in a fast-paced office kitchen environment.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, communication and patience
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills to interact politely with clients and guests.
  • Ability to be a self-sufficient problem solver and make sound decisions on-the-fly
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
  • Basic Food Handler Certification
  • Physical Requirements require:
    • Stamina and ability to stand and walk for long shifts lasting up to 8 hours in a warm, humid environment.
    • Capacity to lift and carry heavy loads, typically between 25 to 50 pounds (such as crates of dishes, large pots, and trash bags).
    • Mobility and Continuous use of hands, wrists, and arms for scrubbing and bending, alongside frequent kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Smartphone will be needed for communication

Schedule & Expectations

Typical schedules are Monday through Friday with hours dependent on the service. You are responsible for managing your schedule, based on your shift availability, with your supervisor.

Shift details: Required availability will be Monday to Friday from from 8:00am-4:30pm

Compensation & Benefits

  • $19-21.50 hourlyDOE. Competitive wages in an equitable tiered pay structure for all positions. Non-Negotiable.
