Accounts Payable Clerk in Linton, Indiana at Greene County General Hospital

The Accounts Payable Clerk will process purchase orders and vendor invoices on a timely basis and in accordance with Hospital policy and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Match purchase orders confirming prices and quantity to vendors’ invoices.
• Verify receipt of material or services/confirmation of receipt of material or services.
• Check accuracy of employee reimbursement expenses before processing.
• Enter invoices in accounting system for payments ensuring correct approval, coding and matching.
• Coordinate with vendors regarding invoicing and payment inquiries and discrepancies.
• Respond to vendors inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Process check runs and set up on-line payment batches for the accounting team.
• Ensure compliance to Hospital policies and procedures.
• Protects patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and privacy laws.
• Ensures patient satisfaction, including troubleshooting when there is a complaint and developing process improvements to prevent reoccurrences.
• Review and process financial assistance applications.
• Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
• Report mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
• Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma/GED required: Associate degree preferred.

Licensure/Certification: N/A

Experience: Minimum of 3 years prior accounts payable experience required, preferably in a healthcare environment. Proficient with MS Excel and Word. Experience with accounting software a plus. A customer focused approach to dealing with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting; occasional walking and standing. Ability to reach, bend, and stoop. May lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
