Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p

Full Time

The Surgical Supply and Inventory Specialist is vital to the hospital’s supply chain. They will split their time between purchasing and surgery. The Surgical Supply and Inventory Specialists time in purchasing will be utilized receiving supplies using the first in, first out system and record receipt of supplies in Cerner or on manual purchase orders. The Surgical Supply and Inventory Specialists time in Surgery will be monitoring necessary inventory is always in stock and current, stocking items in designated areas, along with managing par levels and maintaining neat and organized storage areas. Organizational skills, attention to detail, computer knowledge, inventory management experience, and excellent customer service are important components of this position within the Purchasing Team.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Experience

Skills -

  • Must have basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Knowledge-

  • Must have a good working knowledge of the organization and operation of the purchasing department.

Education-

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience-

  • Two years of supply chain experience preferred but not required.

Authority and Accountability

  • Good working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with, communicate with, and properly handle different types of people.

Aptitudes

  • Must be able to plan and organize work in a timely manner.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy are essential.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Reports to the Purchasing Director.
  • Must work closely with all purchasing and surgery personnel, along with all other hospital departments.

QUALITY ASSURANCE-KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Must be able to use and operate department inventory management system.
  2. Responsible for receiving supplies, verify packing slips against purchase orders, records receipt of supplies in Cerner and submitted to Accounts Payable for payment.
  3. Responsible for the proper rotation of supplies in both departments. Keeps the storage areas clean and orderly.
  4. Responsible for the accuracy of inventory counts in Cerner for surgery.
  5. Tag storeroom items with supply stickers as needed.
  6. Responsible for maintaining organized storage areas with items clearly marked, bins fully stocked and items off the floor in Surgery.
  7. Assists with performing annual inventory count.
  8. Responsible for performing bi-weekly inventory counts and investigating significant variances.
  9. Serves as a backup to Inventory Specialist and courier route as needed.
  10. Completes special projects assigned by Purchasing Director or CFO.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Maintains effective channels of communication for the Director, other purchasing staff and hospital staff.
  • Takes appropriate action in problem situations to offset adverse effects.
  • Projects a professional and positive attitude regarding the hospital.

LEADERSHIP

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Seeks opportunities for self-development and identifies areas of improvement. Conducts self in professional manner acting as a role model while practicing and promoting effective guest relations.
  • Observes Hospital dress guidelines and wears ID badge.
  • Provides proper notification for absence and tardiness and is punctual for start of scheduled time.
  • Participates in emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures and internal/external disaster plans and procedures in accordance with departmental responsibilities.
  • Complies with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Completes projects and assignments on a timely basis.
