About The Role
We are seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Lynnwood team. In this hourly, part-time position, you will support both clinical and front office operations to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience. You will work closely with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to room patients, perform point-of-care testing (POCT), complete blood draws, and assist with front desk responsibilities. This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant with at least one year of experience who is comfortable balancing direct patient care with administrative tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
What You'll Do
- Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits, procedures, and treatments in accordance with clinic protocols
- Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) such as rapid tests, urinalysis, glucose checks, and other bedside diagnostics as ordered
- Perform blood draws and other specimen collection following proper labeling, handling, and safety procedures
- Assist providers during examinations, minor procedures, and treatments as needed
- Maintain exam room and clinical supply inventory, ensuring rooms are clean, stocked, and organized
- Support front office operations including patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, and appointment confirmations
- Verify patient information, insurance, and necessary forms; collect copays and process basic billing-related tasks
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries within scope, and route messages appropriately to clinical staff
- Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the EMR following clinic and regulatory standards
- Follow infection control, safety, and quality guidelines to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Collaborate with the care team to support patient flow, reduce wait times, and ensure a positive patient experience
- Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement, and compliance activities as required by the department
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or similar clinical setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training
- Current Medical Assistant certification/registration (as required by state or employer policy)
- Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Proficiency with rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and documenting in an electronic medical record (EMR)
- Demonstrated experience performing point-of-care testing (POCT) and blood draws/phlebotomy
- Comfort working in both back office (clinical) and front office (administrative) roles
- Strong communication and customer service skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies
- Willingness and availability to work part-time, with flexibility in scheduling as needed by the Lynnwood clinic
