Job Description

Description: About the Role

Are you a people person who loves creating memorable experiences? Do you bring positive energy, enjoy working with a team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment? If so, you might be a great fit for Red Door Escape Room!

Despite the title, our Game Master position has very little to do with being a "gamer." This is first and foremost a guest-facing hospitality role. Our Game Masters are responsible for creating an exciting, welcoming, and memorable experience from the moment guests walk through our doors until the moment they leave.

You’ll serve as a host, guide, problem-solver, and enthusiastic supporter for our guests as they experience Red Door Escape Room. You’ll also work closely with your teammates to keep the location running smoothly, safely, and ready for the next adventure.

What You'll Do
  • Welcome guests with energy, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality.
  • Speak confidently in front of groups, explaining rules, guidelines, and storylines clearly and engagingly.
  • Make genuine connections with guests and look for opportunities to make their experience extra memorable.
  • Check guests in accurately and efficiently using our scheduling and reservation platform.
  • Process credit and debit card payments and complete transactions accurately.
  • Help guests discover more ways to have fun with Red Door by selling location-driven offers such as return visits, additional experiences, gift cards, and other available products.
  • Answer guest questions about experiences, reservations, pricing, and other Red Door offerings.
  • Assist and participate with basic social media activities, including capturing and sharing guest experiences or location content as directed.
  • Keep the front desk and guest-facing areas clean, organized, and ready to welcome the next group.
  • Monitor guests' progress throughout their experience while staying alert, focused, and attentive. Attention to detail is a must!
  • Learn our experiences, storylines, characters, and products so you can confidently guide our guests.
  • Become knowledgeable across the location, including Red Door Escape Room and Game Show Studio experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with your teammates and live out Red Door's company values.
  • Use downtime productively by completing assigned cleaning, maintenance, and operational tasks.
  • Reset experiences accurately and with a sense of urgency so each room is ready on time for the next group.
  • Assist with light maintenance projects such as touch-up painting or basic prop repairs.
Requirements:

You don't need an escape room or gaming experience to succeed here. We're looking for Team Members who bring the right attitude and are excited to learn.

Successful candidates are:

  • Guest-focused and passionate about creating great experiences.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and comfortable engaging with new people.
  • Able to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident speaking in front of individuals and groups.
  • Clear and effective communicators.
  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible.
  • Team players who are willing to jump in and help.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Able to stay focused while managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new technology.
  • Coachable and willing to learn new responsibilities.
  • Able to adapt to different personalities and situations.

Availability Requirements

Our busiest times are when our guests are off work and ready to have fun! Because of this, weekend and holiday availability is an important part of the Game Master role.

  • Must be available to work at least two weekend days each week. For scheduling purposes, our weekend is Friday through Sunday.
  • Must be available to work evenings as needed.
  • Must be available to work holidays, as Red Door locations may operate on holidays.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential part of this position.
  • Specific schedules and hours may vary based on location and business needs.

Physical Requirements

Game Masters are active throughout their shifts and must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Regularly standing and walking for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Bending, reaching, crouching, and moving throughout the location as needed.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Performing light cleaning, resetting experiences, and basic maintenance-related tasks.
  • Using computers, monitors, and other equipment required to operate our experiences.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to reliably report to the location for scheduled shifts.
  • No prior escape room, gaming, or technology experience is required—although experience in hospitality, entertainment, retail, or customer service is a plus.

Ready to Open the Door?

If you're excited about creating unforgettable experiences, bringing great energy to a team, and making someone's day a little more fun, we'd love to hear from you!
