Position Details & Compensation

IMPORTANT: This is a W-2 Employee position.

Position Summary

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides non-medical personal care services that enable clients to safely remain in their homes. Services are delivered under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with each client's individualized Plan of Care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with toileting and incontinence care.
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers, and mobility.
  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding when needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping related to the client's care.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Provide medication reminders; no medication administration.
  • Observe and report changes in the client's condition to the supervising nurse.
  • Complete electronic visit documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow each client's individualized Plan of Care and agency policies.
  • Maintain client privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Qualifications & RequirementsRequired
  • Virginia-approved PCA training or qualifying credential.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently and professionally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass required criminal background checks and other screenings.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Ability to assist with lifting, transferring, pushing, and pulling clients as required.
Preferred
  • Previous home care or caregiving experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license.
  • Experience caring for seniors or individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience working with clients living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
  • Current TB screening and physical examination as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to assist clients with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and mobility.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to perform required personal care duties safely.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform other physical activities necessary to provide client care.
