HSNT is currently seeking an energetic, mission minded Health Education and Community Outreach Specialist that will serve as boots on the ground and a representative of HSNT in the community and the HSNT Marketing and Communication department in HSNT’s health centers.
The Health Education and Community Outreach Specialist possesses energy and enthusiasm for HSNT’s mission and inspires the development of relationships with key community stakeholders, work outreach events such as health fairs and festivals, and distributing HSNT collateral throughout the community. In addition to being an HSNT brand ambassador in the community, the Health Education and Community Outreach Specialist will serve as a liaison between HSNT Marketing and Communications team and clinical teams, having a regular presence in HSNT’s health centers.
A day in the life of the Health Education and Community Outreach Specialist may look like:
- Create an outreach strategy and plan that includes regular communication with community stakeholders such as school nurses, social workers, community organizations, local universities, healthcare professionals and work the plan.
- Partnering with HSNT’s Marketing & Communication Specialist, create Patient communication including, but not limited to, targeted outreach to established patients to improve quality measures, health education, health center signage, information about HSNT’s service lines, and general patient communication needs.
- Support key service initiatives such as Ending the HIV Epidemic, Patient Centered Medical Home Diabetic Cohort, Midwives at HSNT and Pediatric Expansion through outreach, education, and content creation.
- Strategically identify and support outreach activities such as health fairs and community events that connect patients to care and keep HSNT top of mind in the communities we serve.
- Participate in the planning and execution of Stakeholder events.
- Regularly engage HSNT employees, identifying stories to share with all stakeholder groups, strengthening relationship between MarCom and HSNT Team.
- Grow HSNT’s Stakeholder Audience through collection of meaningful content.
- Participate in achieving and the reporting out of MarCom KPI’s.
- Have a growth mindset, identifying training opportunities that strengthen skills needed for the role.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communication.
- Regular in-person attendance is required as an essential function for this position.
- Must have the ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions and or environment in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience, qualifications, and skillsets:
- Bachelor’s degree in health education, communication, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5-years of community outreach, marketing, or communication experience.
- Proficiency with software applications including MS Office, and Canva.
- Strong social and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly skilled in writing clear and concise communications for various communication tools, including print and online.
- Knowledge of marketing and communication principles, guidelines, and best practices.
- Must have proven skills in working independently, self-motivated, goal oriented, strong initiative, and be a self-starter.
- Ability to organize and prioritize, easily adapt and multi-task in changing environments.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, and work under pressure.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to relate to individuals from a variety of racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural/socioeconomic backgrounds, including various sexual orientations.
- The activity for this position requires the employee to work in-person onsite and out in the field at HSNT health centers, as well as traveling within the communities HSNT services and to all HSNT Medical Centers and outreach events. Candidates must be able to operate and drive a vehicle safely during work hours.
