Job Description

Peake is seeking a skilled and motivated Cook I to join our culinary team, working on the hot side of the kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in consistently executing high-quality food. As a Cook I, you will play an important role in cooking and executing menu items on the line, supporting service production, and maintaining consistency across all hot kitchen operations. You will work closely with the Sous Chef and kitchen team to deliver exceptional food experiences across a wide range of events.


About the Position

The Cook I position is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who is confident on the hot line and eager to grow within a dynamic catering environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for cooking and executing menu items to Peake standards, supporting food production, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workstation. Success in this position requires speed, consistency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced service environment.


Major Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Sous Chef to execute meal services.
  • Cook and prepare high-quality menu items on the hot line.
  • Perform food prep and assist with production and assembly as required.
  • Ensure all dishes meet Peake’s quality and presentation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations during service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines.
  • Ensure proper handling of all food products, including reducing waste.
  • Support menu development and new item creation when required.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth service.
  • Complete additional tasks as needed during high-demand periods.


Education, Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in similar catering, banquet, or hotel kitchens with stable work history.
  • Some formal culinary training.
  • Valid FoodSafe certification required.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices (HACCP).
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Professional demeanor and consistent work ethic.


Ongoing Expectations & Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  • Comfortable working on the hot line for extended periods.
  • Frequent interruptions while multitasking daily duties.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines.
  • Maintains high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food quality.
  • Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with team members.
  • Demonstrates reliability and accountability.


Work Environment & Expectations

  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving throughout shifts.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies, equipment, and food products.
  • Work in a busy, hot, and often noisy kitchen environment.
  • Ongoing exposure to kitchen hazards (ovens, sharp objects, slippery surfaces).
  • Ability to multitask and remain focused under pressure.
  • Frequent tight deadlines and time-sensitive service periods.
