Location: WSA Building, 161 Water Street, New York, NY 10038

Compensation: Total earnings potential ≈ $37/hour. $25.00/hour base (W-2) + tips that currently average ~$12/hour. Overtime eligible per policy.

About the role

Join the café team at the WSA campus—700,000 sq. ft. of modern workspace where fashion, arts, culture, and technology intersect. We’re seeking an experienced Cafe Supervisor who can set the pace, uphold standards, and support a small, high-performing team.

What you’ll do

• Shift lead: set daily station assignments, pace service, manage breaks, and ensure smooth opening/closing.
• Quality control: dial in grinders, calibrate espresso, maintain recipes, and audit drink execution and presentation.
• Guest experience: cultivate a warm, professional service culture; handle recovery with poise when issues arise.
• Training & coaching: onboard new baristas, refresh standards, and reinforce hospitality best practices.
• Inventory & ordering: track pars, place orders, receive deliveries, rotate stock, and minimize waste.
• Health & safety: uphold NYC Food Protection standards; maintain a pristine bar and back-of-house.
• Facilities & vendors: coordinate small maintenance needs and communicate with building/coffee partners as needed.
• Events support: collaborate with Operations for pop-ups or special service activations within the building.

Must-haves

• 4+ years barista experience on manual espresso machine in a high-volume setting.
• 3+ year shift lead or supervisor experience.
• Current NYC Food Protection certificate.
• Knowlege of TOAST POS.
• Precision with recipes, speed under pressure, and clear, kind communication.
• Availability for varying shifts, including weekends and holidays Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to ~20 lbs.
