| Required License/Registration/Certification | A number of online trainings developed by UK Environmental Health and Safety will need to be completed prior to starting work in the lab. The PI will work with the selected applicant to ensure their training plan is completed. |
| Physical Requirements | May need to stand for long periods of time, moderate physical exertion related to lifting, pushing, pulling of light to heavy objects. |
| Shift | Monday–Friday. During the summer term up to 30 hours per week. During the semester the student will need to contribute 8-12 hours per week to the project. |
| Job Summary | The Corbin lab in the Department of Horticulture is seeking an undergraduate research assistant with an interest in diet and health. The students will primarily assist with sample processing, compound extraction and quantification, protocol development and data analysis/preparing figures for publication. The student will be expected to prepare a final report at the conclusion of the work summarizing the work and their results. In addition, the student will be expected to attend lab group meetings and present their work to the group. Mentorship and training will be provided. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in contributing to research projects broadly related to horticulture, diet and human health. Applicants do not need to have previous experience in a research lab but exhibits a willingness to learn and contribute to the success of the research project. Competitive hourly pay is dependent on experience. |
| Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required. Basic research skills and knowledge on laboratory safety is preferred but not essential. |
