Job Overview:

Comments

Utilizing a high degree of accuracy in obtaining all registration and financial data in order to provide necessary medical treatment and obtain proper reimbursement for the hospital. Communicating with all customers exhibiting excellent customer service skills. Interviewing patients to assure proper scheduling, registration and certification of services on all patients in a timely and courteous manner. Update the Master Patient Index as needed. Utilizing a high level of customer service in all aspects of the job.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Requires typing skills, medical terminology, office procedures

Preferred:

  • Data entry and customer service experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • N/A

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem - Day

Essential Functions:

• Maintains accurate Master Patient Index and guarantor files

• Identifies and reports any duplication of the MPI to the Senior Registrar

• Consistently collects co-payments from patients and receipts appropriately

• Complies with our policies on Advance Directives and Patient Rights

• Provides patients with all regulatory documents, obtains signatures, and witnesses all patients’ signatures with their own

• Copies and attaches appropriate documents (insurance cards, personal I.D., scripts, referrals, etc.) to the face sheet for retention in the Patient Accounts Department when available

• Actively directs efforts toward efficient use of time.

• Makes customer needs a priority

• Verifies accuracy of patient demographic information so to avoid duplicating a medical record.

• Performs unit courier services as required

• Demonstrates proficiency in following emergency notification procedures per policy.

• Demonstrates initiative and motivation in role; proactively addresses issues; identifies and resolves problems in an appropriate manner

• Keeps noise levels at desk at a minimum

• Is flexible and responsive toward needs of department and assists in every way to meet patient care needs

• Actively assist in the orientation and preceptorship of new employees

• Demonstrates proficiency in navigating all computer programs based on job function

• Participates in workgroups and in-services; makes positive contributions

• Interacts with patients and families in an empathetic, caring manner; acts as patient advocate.

• Works collaboratively with all healthcare professionals

• Demonstrates telephone courtesy and initiative in addressing concerns of caller

• Work environment is organized, medical records are in proper location; patient confidentiality consistently maintained

• Attends 100% of quarterly hospital-wide staff meetings and 80% of unit-based staff meetings.

• Recognized as an advocate for teamwork

• Assists in the throughput of patients within the department

• Uses proper body mechanics in the care of patients when necessary

• Obtains upon employment and maintains unit/department competencies and standards.

• Contributes toward improving cost effectiveness and productivity
