Position Overview

KidsPeace is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and patient-centered Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team. The BHT plays a vital role in supporting individuals receiving mental health or behavioral treatment by monitoring clients, assisting with daily activities, and helping maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. This position requires flexibility, as responsibilities may include local travel between service locations, community-based support, and working in various home or school settings.

The ideal candidate is comfortable providing hands-on support to individuals with autism and other developmental or behavioral needs, helping them build skills, improve communication, and navigate daily routines. The BHT also works closely with families and caregivers, offering guidance, modeling interventions, and helping create consistent, supportive environments across home and community settings.

This role requires strong mobility, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering growth, safety, and emotional well‑being for every individual served.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one‑on‑one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) intervention to children with Autism, targeting improvement in goals and objectives outlined in the treatment plan. This includes, but is not limited to: Intensive Teaching, Verbal Operants, Mand Training, Shaping, Natural Environment Teaching (NET), and Behavioral Contingencies.
  • Structure sessions and prepare developmentally appropriate activities that address each client’s individualized goals and objectives, both independently and in collaboration with the BCBA/BC.
  • Support and coach caregivers by modeling intervention strategies, teaching skills, role‑playing, and encouraging active participation to promote skill transfer outside of sessions.
  • Create and maintain a therapeutic environment using pairing, reinforcement, and a strength‑based approach to foster engagement and skill development.
  • Work collaboratively with the BCBA/BC, Supervisor, Case Managers, Program Manager, and other team members to ensure treatment plans are effectively implemented and aligned with client needs.
  • Complete all documentation professionally, clearly, and within required timelines.
  • Collect behavioral data accurately and consistently in accordance with the treatment plan and agency standards.

Qualifications

  • BHT must complete 40 hours of ABA training before seeing clients in-person.
  • Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortable traveling and driving between client locations.
