About This Position

All faculty members assist students in meeting their academic and career goals by providing an engaging teaching and learning environment utilizing sound pedagogical teaching strategies based on approved syllabi. Faculty provide appropriate and effective instruction, stay current in the scholarship and practice of their discipline and teaching methodology, support academic quality standards, and demonstrate a commitment to student retention and success. The faculty are responsible for helping to create and maintain a student-centered learning environment based on a culture of student learning assessment at the course, program, and institutional level. All faculty members, including full-time, part-time, and adjunct/temporary, are governed by the HR policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Instruct assigned courses in accordance with course competencies/objectives.
• Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies.
• Academically coach, guide, mentor, monitor progress, and empower students to achieve optimum success.
• Teach classes based on assigned schedule and modality according to IBT faculty expectations and complete all related teaching administrative responsibilities such as attendance taking, final grade submission, etc.
• Support student retention and success with full participation in all IBT retention initiatives, fully utilizing all provided system tools.
• Manage classroom teaching conditions and environment through active instructor presence in order to promote a positive classroom environment.
• Maintain lab equipment.
• Stay informed and up to date with industry standards and incorporate into program offerings accordingly.
• Assign grades for students.
• Communicate effectively with program chair, staff, and peers.
• Demonstrate evidence of professional growth and academic currency and maintain valid practice certifications and licensure as appropriate for the discipline/vocation/profession.
• The distribution of a faculty member’s comprehensive assignment will vary in accordance with department, division, and/or regional needs and faculty expertise. Decisions regarding courses taught, teaching locations, and class schedule are determined by the Campus/Program Academic Leader or Dean or his/her proxy.
• Faculty may also be required to perform externship activities for their designated program. (where appropriate). Duties include:
o Review and approval of appropriate Externship site.
o Provide and orient the site as to expectations and what externship entails.
o Provide oversight of the practicum experience as needed.
o Ensure appropriate and sufficient evaluation of student achievement in the practicum experience.
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• The equivalent of three years full-time clinical experience, as a general sonographer, cardiac sonographer, and/or vascular technologist
• An academic degree, not lower than an associate degree, and at least equal to that for which students in the program are being prepared
• Graduated from an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent

• Meet Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and programmatic accreditation educational and experiential qualifications.
• Dependable with the ability to respond to requests for service and assistance.
• Ability to work in a team environment, balances team and individual responsibilities.

• Ability to convey information clearly and effectively to others. This includes the ability to choose the appropriate method or methods of communication.
• Ability to complete all job requirements in allotted time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moderate Risk: Work may involve moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions (such as working around moving parts or machines; exposure to irritants or chemicals). Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, goggles, gloves and/or shields. Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.

Requirements:-Cardiac and/or Vascular certification through ARDMS
-Minimum three years of experience as a sonographer
-Must hold at least an associate degree in Cardio and/or Vascular Sonography
