Release Of Information Specialist - Health Information Management

Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, procedures and policies, the Release of Information Specialist functions is responsible for fostering high levels of customer service in coordinating all information provided to customers and their families and caregivers and ensuring that they receive appropriate, timely, and accurate health information about the services provided by caregivers, financial services, social services, and other medical and legal entities. Reports to the HIM Manager.

Education:High School Diploma and Medical Terminology required, Associate Degree in Health Information, preferred.

Licensure/Certification: RHIT or RHIA preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 12 months of previous healthcare and Medical Record experience is required.

Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and competency in Microsoft Word required. Must demonstrate the ability to work with various customers, patients, lawyers and other healthcare providers in a professional manner.
