Accounting Specialist in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin at Multiple Listing Service, Inc. (DBA Metro MLS)

Metro MLS is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy, proper approval, and coding
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including data entry, payment processing, and recordkeeping
• Prepare and execute weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records
• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive relationships
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reporting
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience
• 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced or service-oriented environment
• Familiarity with Quickbooks and accounting systems
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
