About This Position
To inspect and perform quality testing of fabricated structures. To complete required documentation in accordance with Quality specific procedures and communicates results to necessary parties (both internal and external).Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.* Inspects and performs quality testing to determine conformance and nonconformance of materials, sub-assemblies, and assemblies in relation to drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions* Documents results of inspections and quality tests* Acts as a Quality representative amongst internal departments, external supplies, and external customers* Presents necessary deliverables to internal and external parties* Works under the guidance of supervisionQualificationsThe following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.Minimum Qualifications* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision* Ability to communicate effectively across multiple business unites and with outside entities* Ability to use a tape measure* Ability to understand and comply with all quality processes and procedures* Ability to learn and become a Certified Welding Inspector* Ability to learn and become certified in Ultrasonic Testing and Mag Particle Testing.* Ability to learn quality programs and become a resource to others* Ability to train and mentor others* Basic proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelPreferred Qualifications* 4+ years of industrial steel manufacturing experience* Ability to read and interpret blueprintsWork Environment and Physical RequirementsWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.This position is in a production environment around traffic and heavy manufacturing equipment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery and trip hazards where personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection are required. This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes. Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment* Overtime as required (varies, may require some weekend days)* This position is required to work at heights on scaffolding and ladders, in dim-lit areas, on slippery or uneven surfaces* This position is required to work in confined spaces, and move through narrow manway and tank openings
CompensationThe base pay range for this role is $31 – $39 per hour.
