Job Description: Financial Analyst
Department: Accounting Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Corporate Controller
POSITION SUMMARYThe Financial Analyst supports the financial health of Carter LOGISTEED Express, Inc. and Carter LOGISTEED Logistics, LLC by combining core accounting responsibilities with strategic financial analysis. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and delivering meaningful insights through reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to guide informed business decisions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support month-end and year-end close, including preparation of journal entries and accruals Perform balance sheet reconciliations (bank, credit card, prepaid, accruals, fixed assets) and resolve discrepancies Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Analyze financial results and provide insights into cost drivers, trends, and performance Maintain and improve financial models, reporting tools, and dashboards Support audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests Partner cross-functionally with Operations and Leadership to provide financial guidance Assist with AP/AR processes as needed to ensure accuracy and timeliness Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within accounting and reporting
EDUCATION:
Post-secondary education and at least 5 years’ industry experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Accounting, finance or business degree requiredAt least 5 years of financial experience preferably within transportation/logisticsExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to process financial dataDetail and deadline oriented, takes initiative, and good decision-making skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus Strong planning and organizational skills Ability to work under strict deadlines and minimal supervision. Solid organizational skills
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the accounting team to achieve objectives.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is an office position within our cross-dock facility. You will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements set for entering the dock area. Such as but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket, and steel toe shoes or shoe coverings.
