About This Position
Lake Regional is seeking a Bio Medical Tech to join our Clinical Engineering team.
Qualifications/Requirements:
High school plus specialized training (minimum of 6 months to 2 years)
Preferred Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering
An annual influenza vaccination is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Consistently perform both routine and complex tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of clinical equipment, including life support equipment.
Conducts performance assurance inspections, preventive maintenance procedures, safety tests and incoming equipment inspections to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, applicable code, safety standards and departmental policies and procedures. Investigates and performs follow-up action required for equipment recalls and hazard alerts.
Thoroughly documents records containing pertinent information on equipment folders on calibrations, safety tests and repairs.
Performs corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of clinical/diagnostic instrumentation such as ECG, blood pressures, respiration, and temperature monitors, fetal and neonatal monitors, defibrillators, electro surgery, infusion pumps, infant incubators, and blood warmers. Perform maintenance of the Telephone System, i.e. programming of telephones, establishing new telephone numbers and routine programming within all the departments of the hospital. Basic Fire alarm and Tube System operation.
Assist in identifying and recommending replacement of equipment that is obsolete, has an extensive repair history, or has identified safety issues.
Performs cross-training to other technicians and provides in-service education to clinical staff on equipment operation and safety as necessary.
Maintain good working relationships with fellow workers, nursing and medical staff, and the public. Consistently work with end users to clinically troubleshoot a problem and be able to identify solutions for resolution.
Assist in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing of the Electronic Department. (Including departmental policies and procedures and job descriptions, etc.)
Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc. as approved and necessary.
Assure that work areas are clean and equipment stored at the end of the day. Work areas must also be kept free of hazardous conditions, i.e. grease/spills, excess supplies, to assure all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
Report all patient safety issues to the supervisor or manager and assist with correction of the issue as required.
Meet departmental performance standards on a consistent basis.
Answer phones in a pleasant manner, screen and refer calls as appropriate; deliver messages and provide information to staff, visitors, and patients, upon request.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
Demonstrate initiative and concern for planning, time utilization, and cost containment.
Performs independently in both routine and complex tasks, effectively prioritizes work and initiates new work and tasks, maintains required levels of productivity.
Adhere to Lake Regional Health System and departmental policies and procedures.
Provide mentoring and guidance to Level I technicians.
