West Henrietta, NY - DDSE Lead Electrical Engineer

Lead Electrical Engineer Pay Range: $90,000-$145,000/Annually

DDS Engineering & Surveying, LLP (DDSE), is an experienced and highly qualified natural gas/civil engineering, permitting and survey firm that has been performing consulting engineering and construction services in the natural gas industry for many years. We currently perform these engineering services related to natural gas transmission, distribution main design, station design (M&R, gate stations, & regulator stations) & customer services (residential and commercial) for a variety of natural gas customers throughout the Northeast. Our dynamic team is comprised of experienced natural gas engineers, civil and mechanical engineers, surveyors, gas construction personnel as well as in-house staff expertise in the areas of legal, compliance, and safety. With flexibility in office location (NY, PA, MA, & IL) our fast-growing energy division is seeking thoughtful and highly motivated individuals to be part of our team.

We are hiring an Electrical Engineer to support the design of electrical, instrumentation & control systems for natural gas and related energy facilities including gate stations, regulator stations, M&R stations and other complex utility installations.

This is a fast paced, dynamic position that will require working both independently & as a member of a team of professionals moving projects from concept through construction phases. The engineer is responsible for planning & preparing engineering & designs to meet our customers project objectives for a variety of types of projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on multidiscipline utility & energy facility projects from concept development through construction, with direct exposure to experienced engineers, field personnel, and client stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and/or improving electrical systems for existing or new facilities, components and/or equipment.
  • Produce & revise detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD, including electrical plans, details, wiring diagrams, conduit layouts, & panel-related drawings.
  • Develop electrical design packages including one-line diagrams, panel schedules, conduit & cable tray layouts, cable& conduit schedules, lighting plans, grounding and bonding plans, AC & DC power distribution, UPS & emergency power systems, I/O & loop drawings, communications & SCADA integration, hazardous area classification support, & related calculation.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, calculations, specifications, & construction packages using AutoCAD & related engineering tools.
  • Conferring with customers, engineers, & others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, process & field construction personnel to develop practical & constructible designs.
  • Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
  • Writing reports & compiling data regarding existing & potential electrical engineering projects & studies.
  • Participate in field walks, design reviews, & construction support activities as needed.
  • Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment & materials.
  • Support, mentor, or coordinate with junior team members as experience allows.
  • Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Ideal candidate will possess 5+ years of relevant electrical design experience, preferable in utility, industrial, energy or process facility applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes.
  • Significant hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Office programs, and calculation software.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, team player with strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors and other staff.
  • Attention to detail with a desire for excellence.

Preferred

  • Experience in natural gas facilities, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, process plants, or related energy projects preferred.
  • Licensed as a professional Engineer.
