Banquet Bartender
About the Role:
The Banquet Bartender at Odessa Mariott Hotel and Conference Center plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional beverage service during events and functions. This position is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring a memorable experience. The Banquet Bartender must maintain a clean and organized bar area while adhering to all safety and sanitation guidelines. They collaborate closely with co-workers, event coordinators, service staff and leadership to meet the specific needs of each banquet or event. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to guest satisfaction and the overall success of the event by providing attentive, efficient, and courteous service.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a bartender or in a similar food and beverage service role.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures.
- Capability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Legal eligibility to serve alcohol in Texas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g.,TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol).
- Experience working in banquet or large event settings.
- Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of a wide range of beverage recipes and trends.
- Confident in communication with guests during busy and faced-paced environments.
- Flexible work schedule working nights, evenings, weekends, holidays and based on operation needs.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks, according to established recipes and guest preferences.
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately to process orders and payments during events.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including stocking supplies and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with guests and team members to provide excellent customer service and accommodate special requests.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, such as serving guests, restocking inventory, and coordinating with banquet staff to ensure smooth service flow.
- Attends and complies with alcohol awareness education and training sessions as needed and requested.
- Must have a current /valid food and alcohol awareness certificate at the time of employment.
Skills:
The Banquet Bartender uses guest service skills daily to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for event attendees. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential for understanding guest needs and coordinating with team members. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems ensures accurate order processing and financial transactions. The ability to follow instructions and shift gears comfortably allows the bartender to adapt to changing event dynamics and guest requests. Works well and positively within a team to continuously improve guest workflow and hospitality experience. Managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure under pressure is critical to delivering seamless service and handling any uncertainties that arise during events. Communicates promptly to leadership as needed and required.
