Job Description
Position Summary
The Employee Relations & HR Compliance Specialist is a valued member of the Human Resources team responsible for supporting employee relations, workplace investigations, HR compliance, and risk management across a multi-state organization. This role works closely with employees, managers, HR leadership, and other HR team members to address workplace concerns, conduct investigations, support performance management and corrective action, and help ensure consistent application of Company policies and employment requirements. The ideal candidate is a highly professional, emotionally intelligent, detail-oriented HR professional who can listen carefully, investigate objectively, recognize risk, and make sound recommendations. This position requires discretion, integrity, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive and sometimes difficult situations with maturity and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- - Manage assigned employee relations matters involving performance, conduct, attendance, complaints, workplace conflict, and policy concerns.
- - Conduct objective, thorough, and well-documented workplace investigations.
- - Interview employees and witnesses, evaluate information, identify facts, and prepare clear investigation summaries.
- - Support managers with performance management, coaching, documentation, corrective action, and difficult conversations.
- - Review disciplinary and separation documentation for accuracy, consistency, and potential concerns.
- - Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and labor laws.
- - Assist with multi-state compliance, HR audits, unemployment matters, EEOC and agency inquiries, and other HR compliance activities.
- - Identify potential employee relations, compliance, or organizational risks and escalate appropriately.
- - Maintain impeccable documentation, organization, confidentiality, and recordkeeping.
- - Assist with HR policies, procedures, training, SOPs, and compliance initiatives.
- - Work collaboratively with HR leadership, HR team members, managers, and legal counsel when appropriate.
- What We’re Looking For
- - 5+ years of progressive HR experience preferred.
- - Employee relations and workplace investigation experience strongly preferred.
- - Strong working knowledge of employment and labor laws.
- - Exceptional listening, reasoning, investigative, and decision-making skills.
- - High emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm, neutral, and professional under pressure.
- - Impeccable professionalism, integrity, work ethic, and discretion.
- - Excellent documentation, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- - Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving abilities.
- - Ability to recognize risk and know when a matter requires escalation.
- - Ability to manage sensitive matters independently while working effectively within a collaborative HR team.
- - Multi-state and healthcare HR experience preferred.
