Residential Direct Support Professional - Part Time Weekends

Saturday-Sunday (weekly or bi-weekly) | Shifts available 7a-3p, 3p-11p and 11p-7a

About the Role:

The Community Homes Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in providing compassionate and individualized support to individuals living in community-based residential settings. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and fostering social inclusion. The professional will work closely with residents to implement personalized care plans, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being are prioritized at all times. Collaboration with families, healthcare providers, and multidisciplinary teams is essential to deliver holistic support tailored to each individual's unique needs. Ultimately, this role contributes to creating a supportive and empowering environment where residents can thrive and achieve their personal goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or similar populations.
  • Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) or equivalent credential.
  • Experience in community-based residential settings.
  • Training in behavior management techniques and person-centered planning.
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation systems.
  • Additional certifications such as medication administration or specialized healthcare training.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and mobility support.
  • Implement individualized care plans and document progress, changes, and any concerns accurately and timely.
  • Promote social engagement and community integration by facilitating participation in recreational, educational, and vocational activities.
  • Monitor residents’ health and safety, promptly reporting any medical or behavioral changes to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment that respects residents’ dignity and privacy.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to foster residents’ independence and self-confidence.
