Instructor – Electrical Apprenticeship (Part-Time / Evening)

Schedule: Part-time; Evenings 5:00–7:00 PM, two nights per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday)
Program Overview
ABC Carolinas sponsors a Registered Apprenticeship Program recognized by ApprenticeshipNC. The Electrical Apprenticeship provides related technical instruction (RTI) aligned with NCCER curriculum standards and supports apprentices and employers across North Carolina’s merit‑shop construction industry.
Position Summary
The Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor is a journey-level electrical craft professional responsible for delivering high‑quality, competency based instruction to registered apprentices. Instructors support apprentice success by providing engaging classroom and limited lab/shop instruction, maintaining accurate academic records, and communicating with employers as needed regarding attendance and progress.
This is an instruction-focused role designed for experienced trades professionals teaching in the evenings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Classroom Delivery

Deliver NCCER Electrical curriculum through in person classroom instruction with some lab/shop activities, supplemented by online components as assigned

Prepare and organize lesson plans that align with NCCER learning objectives and apprenticeship standards

Integrate jobsite safety concepts into all instruction

Create a respectful, inclusive, and effective learning environment for adult learners
Assessment & Records

Administer assessments in accordance with NCCER and program guidelines

Accurately enter and maintain attendance and grades in ApprentiScope
-
Maintain confidentiality and security of testing and instructional materials
Apprentice & Employer Communication

Communicate with employers regarding apprentice attendance as needed
-
Support program documentation requirements related to apprentice participation
Program Support

Assist with orientation, completion, and other program activities as requested
-
Participate in instructor meetings or training sessions when scheduled

Support continuous improvement of instructional delivery and curriculum implementation
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum of four (4) years of journey level electrical experience
-
Ability to teach two evenings per week (5:00–7:00 PM)
-
Strong verbal communication and classroom management skills
-
Basic computer proficiency and willingness to use required software platforms
-
Ability and willingness to meet Apprenticeship NC and ABC Carolinas instructor requirements
Required or Obtainable Certifications
(Instructors may obtain required credentials within a defined onboarding period, if not already held)

OSHA 10‑Hour Construction (minimum)

Current CPR / First Aid certification

NCCER Instructor Certification

Preferred Attributes
