Job Title: Parts Coordinator

Position Type: Full time
Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-5:00pm
Pay Range: $65K-$75K
About the role:
The Parts Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting mining operations by ensuring the timely, cost-effective procurement and management of parts, materials, and services. This position combines strategic sourcing, vendor management, and inventory oversight to maintain operational continuity and efficiency.
What you'll do:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s objectives and operational requirements. Forecast material needs and manage procurement timelines to avoid disruptions in mining operations. Use parts runner to pick up necessary parts from vendors.
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers for materials, equipment, and services. Negotiate contracts and ensure competitive pricing while maintaining supplier relationships and quality standards. Conduct supplier audits and performance assessments to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and safety standards.
- Manage procurement budgets and monitor spending to ensure cost-effectiveness. Track market trends and price fluctuations to make informed purchasing decisions. Ensure cost-saving opportunities are identified and executed.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and environmental standards. Identify and mitigate procurement risks, such as supply chain disruptions, geopolitical issues, or vendor financial stability.
- Oversee inventory management to ensure that the right quantities of materials and spare parts are available at all times. Manage stock levels to minimize excess inventory and prevent shortages.
- Work closely with operations, health and safety, and finance teams to ensure smooth procurement processes. Understand operational requirements to make informed purchasing decisions and optimize procurement activities.
- Promote sustainable and ethical procurement practices, particularly when sourcing materials or services that have environmental or social impacts.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, purchases, and contracts. Generate regular reports to senior management on procurement performance, savings, and potential issues. Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to identify cost savings opportunities and negotiate prices with vendors. Continually search for new vendors to assist in expediting of parts procurement. Work closely with the finance department to ensure billing accuracy. Proficient with purchase order creation and tracking software.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Several years of experience in procurement, with a focus on mining, construction, or heavy machinery.
- Experience with managing medium to large-scale procurements, such as equipment, raw materials, and services for large operations.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to assess market conditions, supplier proposals, and inventory needs.
- Knowledge of procurement software and tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent communication skills and vendor relations skills to work with suppliers, internal teams, and management.
- A good understanding of supply chain management and logistics in the context of the mining industry.
- Ability to handle complex, large-scale projects and maintain strong supplier relationships.
