Job Summary
The Clinical Operations Director of Adult Medicine at WFHC is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the adult medicine department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Clinical Operations Director collaborates with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and leadership to improve operational efficiency, enhance patient outcomes, and align departmental goals with the health center’s mission and strategic objectives.
Communication
Good oral and written communication skills are required for this position. Information must be exchanged using tact and persuasion appropriately. The person in this position must be able to communicate with the patients, staff, and others; and contribute to a positive environment. Bilingual English Spanish Preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Directs the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of WFHC clinical operations to meet the needs of patients, clients, and other customers. Works closely with WFHC key leadership on compliance, quality improvement and assurance, risk management, patient safety and health, and overseeing staffing and workflows for clinical services at all locations.
- Oversees the daily operations of the adult medicine department, ensuring efficient workflows, resource allocation, and staff productivity.
- Monitor patient access, scheduling, and visit volume to ensure timely and efficient care delivery.
- Functions as liaison for provider clinical concerns and/or requests.
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure high-quality care delivery and operational excellence.
- Actively participates in various internal committees and external community initiatives as required of the position, or at the request of administration.
- Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of clinical staffing and service delivery; collaborates with other departments and organizations regarding resources and services for improved patient care and employee development.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce cost without compromising patient care.
- Assure adherence to accreditation standards and compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations.
- Works closely with WFHC key leadership for effective, efficient, and integrated patient services.
- Works closely with human resources on workforce planning, staffing, performance evaluation, safety and health, training, and other clinical staffing matters.
- Provides support to WFHC key leadership in carrying out programs, policies, and activities; assists with initiatives, projects and assignments.
- Represents WFHC in state, regional, or local communities or task forces as assigned.
- Responsible for ensuring program and corporate compliance with primary health care policies and procedures, as well as with those external regulatory bodies such as HCFA, HRSA, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA and other professional review and standards boards.
- Ensure staff compliance with the adopted health care plan as it relates to the stated objectives.
- Provides educational support.
Clinical Quality and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with FQHC specific regulations, including HRSA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Support providers and staff in adhering to evidence-based clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Responsible for tracking and trending incident reports in collaboration with the Director of Compliance and Administration. This includes collecting, analyzing and identifying patterns or areas of concern to support ongoing quality improvement initiatives. A comprehensive quarterly summary report will be prepared, highlighting key findings and trends and presented to the QI/QA Work Group for discussion and recommendations.
Professional Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field required: Master’s degree preferred (e.g. MHA, MPH, MBA, or MSN).
- Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare operations management, preferably within a FQHC or similar setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading clinical operations across multiple healthcare locations or service lines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult medicine and primary care services.
- Proficient use of Microsoft suite or product; Excel, Outlook, Words, PowerPoint.
- Proficient use of Athena EHR.
Requirements
- Level 2 background clearance required
- Proof of immunizations for MMR, HEP B vaccination, and either a history of chicken pox (varicella), or documentation of the varicella vaccine, current Tdap, and a PPD Test at time of hire.
