Job Summary: A Forklift Operator is responsible for efficiently handling the loading of material onto flatbed trailers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety standards. The Forklift Operator will ensure material is staged properly by following safe stacking guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read work orders to accurately load materials averaging 20-25ft long onto flatbed trailers.
  • Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Loads/unload materials from pallets, racks, trailers, and shelves by hand or forklift.
  • Install bracing or dunnage to prevent shifting or damage to material in transit utilizing hand tools.
  • Move materials to designated areas utilizing a forklift or overhead crane.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during the loading/unloading process.
  • Report issues or concerns to the supervisor.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience handling long material (30-45ft long) with a forklift.
  • Must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a desire to produce high quality and accurate work.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to read work orders and follow oral instructions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may be noisy and/or require PPE.
