Northwest Equipment Sales, a Heavy-Duty Truck & Trailer Dealership (Mack, Volvo, Kalmar Ottawa, and Cummins) is seeking to hire a Full-Time Shop Foreman for its facility in Boise, Idaho. Wages are $35.00 - $40.00 per hour based upon experience.

Position Summary

The Shop Foreman serves as a key leader within the service department and acts as an extension of the Service Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, supporting technicians, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining high-quality repair standards, and facilitating communication between technicians, service advisors, and the parts department.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Support

· Act as a leader on the shop floor and support the Service Manager in daily operations.

· Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical assistance to all technicians.

· Foster a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment.

· Assist in prioritizing work and maintaining workflow efficiency.

Communication & Coordination

· Maintain clear, timely communication using ASIST and email systems.

· Collaborate closely with Service Advisors and Parts personnel to ensure efficient job flow.

· Serve as a central point of communication between departments to prevent delays or miscommunication.

Repair Order (RO) Oversight

· Partner with Service Advisors to ensure repair orders (ROs) are opened, updated, and closed accurately and promptly.

· Review technician stories for completeness, clarity, and accuracy; coordinate corrections as needed.

· Ensure all warranty requirements are met, including documentation, photos, and supporting details.

· Coordinate with advisors on internal ROs to ensure proper lines, approvals, and documentation are completed.

Training & Development

· Train and onboard new technicians on company standards, systems, and procedures.

· Mentor entry-level technicians to develop diagnostic skills, repair processes, and proper documentation habits.

· Work with the team to continuously improve processes and increase shop efficiency.

· Promote ongoing learning and technical skill development.

Quality Control

· Inspect completed work to ensure repairs meet company quality standards.

· Perform test drives on major repairs to verify proper operation.

· Ensure engine work and full services are properly cleaned (steam cleaned where applicable) prior to completion.

· Minimize comebacks by ensuring repairs are completed correctly the first time.

Safety & Compliance

· Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

· Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry safety standards.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Required

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Proven experience as an automotive/diesel technician (or similar field)

· Strong diagnostic and technical expertise

· Experience using shop management systems (ASIST preferred)

· Ability to lead, coach, and support a team

Preferred

· Previous leadership or foreman experience

· OEM certifications or advanced technical training

· Strong understanding of warranty processes and documentation

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

· Work performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures
