Job Summary:
This is a permanent position performing exploration work at our Gleeson project in Arizona.
The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering high-quality geologic information and assisting with the supervision of geophysical and drill contractors in a remote field-based exploration environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under direction from project leadership, complete a variety of geological tasks, including mapping, sampling, and core logging.
- Collaborate on the preparation and completion of timely project reports.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
- Maintain a high level of data quality, security, and QA/QC.
- Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
- Performs other related functions as assigned by the Manager – Early-Stage Exploration, Project Managers and/or Senior Geologists.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Reasonable competence and experience with geologic mapping and/or core logging and familiarity with geophysical, geochemical, and drilling data preferred.
- Knowledge of mineral deposits, particularly the exploration for and evaluation of porphyry copper deposits.
- Ability to understand and implement industry best practices and technological processes for mapping, sampling, drill core logging, and other exploration activities.
- Capable of operating independently and safely with a small team while solving problems and appropriately managing risk.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or equivalent required.
- Preference for 3+ years of experience as an exploration geologist in mineral exploration for Base and Precious Metals.
- Capable of creative thinking in a collaborative team environment, leading to the development of robust exploration targets.
- Capable of using and learning GIS and Geologic Modeling Software; experience is preferable, particularly in Leapfrog and ArcGIS.
- Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
