The Senior Manager, M&A Accounting will lead technical accounting activities related to acquisitions, divestitures, investments, and strategic initiatives. This role requires strong collaboration with finance leaders, auditors, valuation specialists, and business teams to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and effective integration of transactions.
- Partner with Corporate Development teams to address technical accounting considerations related to acquisitions and support the transition of due diligence findings to operating teams.
- Lead and coordinate purchase price allocation processes, including collaboration with third-party valuation providers and review of valuation analyses.
- Support acquired business teams in preparing and reviewing post-acquisition opening balance sheets and accounting adjustments.
- Collaborate with external auditors on opening balance sheet reviews, valuation assessments, and SOX compliance requirements.
- Evaluate accounting treatment for minority investments, convertible debt, equity method investments, and partnership structures.
- Review investment portfolios for impairment indicators and fair value adjustments, providing recommendations on appropriate accounting treatment.
- Partner with tax teams to understand acquisition structures and related accounting requirements supporting global tax strategies.
- Support quarterly and annual SEC reporting processes and provide financial analysis support across corporate functions.
- Assist with acquisition integrations by monitoring purchase accounting activities and post-close integration processes.
- Drive improvements through technology adoption, including AI-enabled tools and automation solutions for accounting processes.
- Provide guidance and oversight to corporate accounting team members as needed.
- Contribute to global finance initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced accounting professional with strong technical expertise in M&A transactions, public company reporting, and complex accounting standards. This role requires excellent analytical abilities, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 7+ years of experience within a large public accounting firm and/or multinational public company environment.
- Strong expertise in acquisition accounting under ASC 805, including purchase price allocations, contingent consideration, valuation adjustments, and transaction-related accounting matters.
- Experience with impairment accounting for goodwill, intangible assets, and long-lived assets under ASC 350 and ASC 360.
- Demonstrated experience supporting multinational organizations and public company accounting requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with external auditors and support SEC reporting and disclosure processes.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge combined with strategic problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities with the confidence to partner with senior leaders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, high-volume M&A environment.
- Strong interest in leveraging technology and automation to improve accounting processes.
- Competitive annual salary range of approximately $170,000 – $193,000 USD, depending on qualifications, experience, location, and business needs.
