Description:

Alliance Workforce Management is hiring CNC Machinist to support a growing precision machining operation. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic job shop environment producing a wide variety of parts across different materials, tolerances, and setups. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to a high-performing manufacturing team.

Position Overview

The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating CNC mills and lathes, performing machine setups, reading and interpreting blueprints, inspecting finished parts, and troubleshooting machining issues. This role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to consistently maintain dimensional tolerances in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment as assigned.
  • Perform machine setups and changeovers based on experience level.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Set and adjust tooling, work offsets, and tool offsets.
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Maintain dimensional requirements and quality standards throughout production.
  • Troubleshoot tooling, setup, and machining issues to minimize downtime.
  • Complete in-process inspections and required production documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate quality, production, or equipment concerns promptly to supervisors.
  • Take ownership of part quality and ensure specifications are met.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Understanding of machining principles, tooling, speeds, feeds, and offsets.
  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work and maintaining tight tolerances.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in a job shop or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, vertical machining centers (VMCs), or horizontal machining centers (HMCs).
  • Strong blueprint-reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Experience maintaining tolerances of approximately ±.003", with tighter tolerances down to ±.0005".
  • Ability to independently perform machine setups and changeovers.
  • Advanced knowledge of tooling selection, offsets, and machining optimization.
  • Experience troubleshooting machining and setup issues with minimal supervision.

  • AS9100-certified manufacturing environment supporting machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials, tools, and components as required.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and other physical movements associated with machining operations.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and perform detailed visual inspections.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery, cutting tools, and manufacturing equipment.

Full-time positions available. Multiple experience levels accepted. Experienced setup machinists are strongly encouraged to apply, while dependable CNC operators with strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to grow into full machinists are also encouraged to apply.
