This is an impactful research role at the intersection of educational science, data, assessment, and real-world decision-making. You will join a research-focused team that partners with school districts, researchers, educators, and internal stakeholders to address complex questions through rigorous evidence. The role combines advanced quantitative analysis with research consulting, requiring you to translate technical findings into practical and actionable guidance. You will work with large-scale assessment and education datasets while contributing to applied research and scalable resources. The position offers significant autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and opportunities to influence how research informs K–12 education. You will also engage directly with external partners through consultations, presentations, and research projects.

Accountabilities
  • Serve as a trusted research advisor to school districts, researchers, educators, and internal stakeholders, helping them interpret assessment data and research evidence appropriately for educational decision-making.
  • Lead research consulting engagements from initial scoping through delivery by clarifying questions, defining appropriate methodologies, conducting analyses, and communicating findings and recommendations.
  • Independently access, query, analyze, and manage large-scale assessment datasets using tools such as R, Python, or SQL within a Snowflake data environment.
  • Apply advanced expertise in educational research, assessment, measurement, and research design to address complex, ambiguous, and partner-specific questions.
  • Translate technical research findings, statistical analyses, and assessment concepts into clear, practical guidance for audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Design and deliver partner-facing presentations, technical consultations, custom analyses, data visualizations, research reports, policy briefs, practitioner materials, and other accessible research products.
  • Collaborate across research, education, technology, and business teams to respond effectively to partner needs while identifying opportunities to create reusable resources and scalable solutions.
  • Conduct and contribute to rigorous applied research using large-scale assessment and longitudinal education data in alignment with broader research priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, district leaders, researchers, and cross-functional colleagues.
  • Manage multiple consulting engagements and research responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining high-quality deliverables and agreed timelines.
  • Travel approximately 10–20% of the time for partner engagements, conferences, and other internal or external events.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Education, Educational Measurement, Public Policy, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting educational research and/or providing research, data, or assessment consultation, preferably involving large-scale assessment or longitudinal education data.
  • Strong quantitative research expertise and the ability to select and apply appropriate methodologies to applied research questions.
  • Proficiency with statistical and analytical tools such as R, Stata, Python, or similar software; strong SQL skills and experience independently querying large-scale datasets are preferred.
  • Experience working directly with educators, district or state leaders, researchers, or other stakeholders to scope and address research and data questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex research findings, analyses, and assessment concepts into practical recommendations for nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience independently managing partner-facing projects from scoping and analysis through final delivery.
  • Strong understanding of K–12 educational assessment and measurement, including appropriate applications and limitations of assessment data.
  • Knowledge of K–12 education policy and practice, as well as the strengths and limitations of different research designs and data sources.
  • Ability to move comfortably between technical research, quantitative analysis, and partner-facing consultation.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to clarify ambiguous questions, identify underlying needs, and recommend appropriate analytical approaches.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with audiences with varying levels of research expertise.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across disciplines, and consistently deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MAP Growth, its reporting ecosystem, appropriate uses, and applications across educational contexts is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, adaptable, action-oriented environment and demonstrate curiosity, courage, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to work remotely within the United States and travel approximately 10–20% as required.
Benefits
  • Salary range of $120,000–$130,000 USD, with compensation determined based on skills, experience, education, and location.
  • Comprehensive employee benefits and a supportive workplace culture.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • Opportunities to contribute to meaningful research with potential impact on K–12 education and student outcomes.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, continuous learning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary research and education professionals.
  • Exposure to large-scale assessment data, applied research initiatives, and data-driven educational decision-making.
  • A collaborative environment focused on learning, experimentation, innovation, and shared objectives.
  • Approximately 10–20% travel for partner consulting engagements, conferences, and other professional events.
  • Application deadline of August 25, 2026, with applications encouraged as early as possible.
