Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Brand & Communications, the Senior Manager Rankings & Awards is part of a global team of marketing and business development professionals. The Senior Manager Rankings & Awards plans, directs, strategically evaluates and manages the Firms participation with key legal directories, publications and other rankings and awards organizations to increase rankings and recognition for the Firm and its lawyers. She/he provides leadership to the Rankings & Awards team and works closely with and collaborates with Marketing colleagues, other Firm departments, lawyers and Firm management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads the Firms participation in key legal directories and other rankings and awards organizations in order to increase rankings and recognition for the Firm and its lawyers in alignment with the Firms strategic priorities, and to maximize the firms investment.
Liaises with directory management and researchers to understand methodology and submission guidelines as well as other information specific to the directory or Sidley and uses that information to maximize process efficiency.
Advises lawyers and business development liaisons on preparing successful legal directory submissions, choosing client references and preparing lawyers for interviews in a way that is in keeping with strategic considerations.
Manage resources and processes for executing submissions that emphasizes efficiency, collaboration and results by leveraging research, analysis, technology and best practices in order to effectively meet submission guidelines and continually improve the quality of submissions.
Communicates and advocates the Firms strategy regarding participation in key legal directories and other rankings and awards to key stakeholders.
Oversees research calendars, submissions, client references and lawyer interviews globally, in close coordination with members of Business Development and Marketing.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders (Firm management; practice leaders; Pro Bono and Diversity Committees, Strategic Planning), to determine the approach to identify and coordinate cross-practice or cross-department submissions such as Law 360 Practice Group of the Year.
Reports rankings and awards results to Firm management and ensures that rankings and awards submissions, nominations and results are accurately captured and tracked in LexTrack to allow for reporting to firm management in real time.
Provides leadership and operational support to the Rankings & Awards Team, including direct reporting oversight of marketing professionals, coaching and training, delivering performance feedback and reviews, hiring, handling HR issues and any other tasks related to a direct reporting relationship.
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
Bachelors degree.
A minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a manager.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Training, coaching, and presentation skills.
Excellent research skills.
Preferred:
Prior work experience developing and producing global submissions for publications in the marketing department of an AmLaw 100-sized firm.

The target salary range for this role is:
$130,000 - $200,000 if located in New York or ChicagoSalaries vary by location and are based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, the relevant market, skills, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
