Job Description

Job Title: Product Portfolio Manager
Location: Libertyville | Illinois
Department: Product Management
Employee Type: Full-Time
Experience: Mid-level
Compensation: $100,000–$125,000

Job Description:

Challenge yourself and grow your career with the reverse distribution industry's highest performer, Pharma Logistics. We are not an average company, our service is not average, our people are not average, and we work hard to hire outstanding colleagues for our team. We are seeking candidates who show passion for what they do, think in terms of continuous, never-ending improvement, and seek what is best for the team.

Pharma Logistics is a leader in the pharmaceutical compliance and reverse distribution industry, operating a DEA-approved fulfillment center in Libertyville, Illinois. We collect expired, recalled and unsaleable pharmaceutical product from retail pharmacies, health systems and government facilities, recover manufacturer credit on our customers' behalf, and dispose compliantly of what cannot be credited. We are licensed in all 50 states and Puerto Rico and hold NABP Drug Distributor Accreditation and DEA registration for Schedules II–V.

Job Summary

The Product Portfolio Manager owns the financial performance of Pharma Logistics' in-market products and services, including the Rapid Credit Program®, our upfront-payment offering that provides pharmacy customers with accelerated credit for returned product. The Rapid Credit Program is one of our most differentiated products and a central part of our retail strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Product Management, this is a single-owner, hands-on individual contributor role with real decision rights and executive visibility. You will track the portfolio against the revenue and profitability targets set by the Head of Product Management, recommend pricing changes on existing products, and own the eligibility criteria and governance of the Rapid Credit Program. You will work across Finance, Sales, Operations, Data Science and IT, and alongside the Product Manager, New Product Development, who hands new offerings to you once they launch. It suits someone who wants to own the numbers behind a product portfolio rather than simply report on them.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Own the P&L of the in-market product portfolio and report results monthly against revenue and profitability targets

  • Analyze product economics at the customer, manufacturer and product level, and identify margin risks and opportunities

  • Take over performance reporting for new products at handoff, and track them against their business cases and launch KPIs

  • Provide product performance data and analysis to the Head of Product Management to support business intelligence and portfolio decisions

  • Recommend pricing changes on existing products and model their financial impact

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of product pricing data

  • Prepare and present recommendations to a monthly governance committee and implement approved decisions

  • Own Rapid Credit Program eligibility criteria and recommend changes

  • Review Rapid Credit accounts and payments for consistency with program criteria and escalate exceptions

  • Set documentation requirements for Rapid Credit Program participation and resolve exceptions

  • Maintain current internal documentation of program terms

  • Track service-level performance against program targets

  • Partner with the Product Manager, New Product Development on launch pricing assumptions and the handoff of new offerings into the portfolio

  • Partner with Sales and Account Management on in-market product positioning and customer questions

  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Data Science and IT on product data and reporting

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, analytics, supply chain or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years in pricing, revenue management, FP&A, credit or financial analysis, or product or program management with direct financial accountability

  • Demonstrated ownership of a P&L, margin line or pricing book, ideally across multiple products or service lines

  • Advanced Excel, and comfort working with large datasets in a BI or query environment

  • Sound commercial judgment, and the ability to defend a recommendation with senior stakeholders

  • Clear, concise written communication

  • Ability to work effectively across departments without formal authority

Beneficial Education, Skills and Experience

  • Pharmaceutical distribution, reverse distribution, pharmacy, PBM or healthcare supply chain experience

  • Experience in product portfolio or product line management

  • Working knowledge of NDCs and product master data

  • Background in credit analysis, receivables, claims adjudication or transaction review

  • Experience with pricing governance or rate cards

  • ERP and BI tools; SQL a plus
