Fiber Construction Assistant in Salina, Kansas at Rural Telephone Service Company Inc

Nex-Tech is seeking a hardworking and dependable Construction Assistant to support field construction activities. This entry-level role assists with cable installation, equipment operation, and general construction tasks to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work and wants to build a career in telecommunications or construction.

• Assist with installation and splicing of cable systems
• Operate trenching, digging, and construction equipment
• Support maintenance and repair of buried and aerial plant
• Maintain and restore job sites and right-of-way areas
• Clean, stock, and maintain vehicles and equipment
• Work closely with team members to complete construction projects

• Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labor
• Basic knowledge of construction practices (or willingness to learn)
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Attention to detail and safety awareness
• Ability to operate or learn construction equipment
• Valid driver’s license (ability to obtain CDL required shortly after hire)

Required: High school diploma or equivalent plus basic construction experience or willingness to learn.
