Job Description
Position: Linux/UNIX System Administrator
Summary
We are seeking a Linux/UNIX System Administrator to support secure, mission-critical customer systems across Red Hat, Solaris, and other Linux/UNIX environments. This role is a great fit for a hands-on systems professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, improving performance, supporting modernization efforts, and keeping essential infrastructure running strong.
Capabilities
· Administer Linux and UNIX-based systems, including Red Hat and Solaris, to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient day-to-day operations.
· Monitor system performance, manage storage and system resources, and recommend scalability and high-availability improvements.
· Support system migrations, including physical-to-virtual conversions, modernization efforts, and cloud-based Linux integrations.
· Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to support continuity of operations.
· Troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve technical problems to maintain system uptime.
· Develop, document, and maintain scripts to automate recurring system administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
· Support infrastructure replacement planning, hardware refresh cycles, and lifecycle management activities.
· Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and support to junior staff and team members as needed.
Education, Certification, Training
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux/UNIX system administration.
· Strong working knowledge of Red Hat 7.x, Solaris, and other Linux variants.
· Must possess and maintain an IAT Level II certification, including Security+ or equivalent.
· Oracle Solaris Certified Associate and/or Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification preferred.
· Experience supporting secure enterprise environments and maintaining systems in accordance with customer and contract requirements.
· Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to support both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
· Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
· CompTIA Linux+ certification.
· Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
· Oracle Solaris 11 Systems Administration I, II, and III.
· Oracle Solaris 11 Logical Domains, Zones, ZFS Administration, Security Administration, Performance Tuning, and Management.
· Oracle Solaris Essentials and Shell Oracle experience.
· Red Hat System Administration I, II, and III.
· Experience with Red Hat Automation with Ansible, Red Hat Satellite Administration, and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.
Citizenship
U.S.
Security Clearance
Active U.S. Government Top Secret level clearance required.
Work Location
Fully onsite or hybrid, depending on customer requirements.

Compensation
This position is offered with a salary range of $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually, based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and contract labor category requirements.
