About This Position
Supports, administers, and optimizes internal and external data, wireless, and telephony networks. Responsible for maintaining network systems, applications, configurations, and security controls to ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and protection against cyber threats.
Performs proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure. Assists in implementing network upgrades, patches, security controls, and enhancements. Provides technical support and guidance to users and collaborates with senior engineering staff on network design, optimization, cybersecurity initiatives, and incident response activities.
Participates in the organization’s cybersecurity efforts including threat detection, vulnerability mitigation, and response to security events affecting network infrastructure. Performs as a member of the cybersecurity red/blue team.
Position is under the supervision of the Network Engineering Manager.Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots data, wireless, and telephony network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and network security devices. Supports Checkpoint and Cisco Firepower firewalls, failover connectivity, and participates in testing and evaluation of network systems to improve performance, reliability, and security posture.
Administers and supports wireless networks, VoIP systems, call routing and recording platforms, Internet connectivity, and redundant routing/switching environments. Assists with firewall configuration, network segmentation, access control policies, and security hardening best practices.
Monitors network traffic and security alerts using available tools and participate in identifying, analyzing, and responding to potential cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
Collaborates with Senior Network Engineer on network optimization, capacity planning, and implementation of new technologies, including security-focused initiatives such as zero trust principles, MFA integration, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Maintains and supports Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, and remote access technologies with a focus on secure configuration and access control.
Provides both on-site and remote technical support to internal and external customers, including support for secure connectivity and remote access solutions.
Maintains detailed documentation, system logs, and performance/security metrics to support trend analysis, audits, compliance requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Participates in after-hours support and contributes to incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity efforts as needed.Working knowledge of enterprise networking technologies including Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as Checkpoint and Cisco Firepower security platforms.
Proficiency with network security principles including firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPN security, network segmentation, and access control methodologies.
Working knowledge with Cisco Unified Communications technologies including CUCM, UCCX, Unity, Presence, and Webex Calling/Contact Center environments is preferred.
Working knowledge of VMware, Veeam, Barracuda appliances, Cisco ISE, Duo MFA, endpoint and identity security solutions, Windows Server environments, SQL, IIS, and enterprise backup/replication systems.
Understanding of core networking protocols and services including BGP, DNS, VPN, VLANs, Spanning Tree, VoIP, wireless networking, and network security best practices.
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, vulnerability management, patching strategies, and basic threat detection/response processes. Provides input to red/blue team on intrusion detection, mitigation and defense.
Familiarity with Linux/UNIX systems, web technologies, and remote access solutions.
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network performance, connectivity, and security-related issues with increasing independence.
Ability to follow and execute written and verbal instructions, maintain accurate documentation, and support operational excellence.
Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Must be a quick learner with strong problem-solving abilities, capable of working independently while contributing to a high-performing team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment with a high degree of reliability, accountability, and security awareness.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a network administrator is required.
Experience supporting enterprise network environments, including monitoring on-site and cloud-connected infrastructure, maintaining network integrity, applying updates/patches, and supporting cybersecurity prevention, detection, and response efforts.
Relevant certifications or training in networking, cybersecurity, or unified communications technologies are highly desirable.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold a current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or ability to obtain within one year of date of hire.
Must hold a current Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+, or equivalent or ability to obtain within the second year of date of hire.
