JOB TITLE: Residential Manager

DEPARTMENT: Residential SGL

SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Residential SGL Director

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Life Skills Instructors (SGL)

JOB STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: This role requires being available to work all shifts with first shift being primary

Summary:

Provide leadership and oversight of a residential group home serving adults with developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured home environment that promotes independence, dignity, and personal growth for residents. The Residential Manager supervises staff, ensures compliance with agency and regulatory standards, and supports the development and implementation of individualized service plans.


Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive residential home environment for all residents

· Oversee daily operations of the group home, including schedules, staffing, and household management

· Ensure the health, safety, and dignity of all residents at all times

· Provide direct support, guidance, and role modeling for residents in daily living skills

· Support development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP) and Person-Centered Plans

· Document resident progress toward goals and objectives on a regular basis

· Supervise, train, and evaluate Life Skills Instructors (SGL)

· Recruit, interview, and support hiring of residential staff

· Schedule staff work assignments and ensure adequate coverage of shifts

· Ensure staff are trained, compliant with policies, and providing quality services

· Coordinate household operations including meals, housekeeping, supplies, and maintenance

· Oversee transportation needs of residents as required

· Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in compliance with agency standards

· Ensure compliance with state regulations, agency policies, and safety requirements

· Support community integration and positive community relationships for residents

· Assist residents in attending medical, dental, and other appointments as needed

· Manage purchasing and expenditures with appropriate approvals and accountability

· Participate in corrective action plans and quality improvement processes when required

· Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities

Qualifications & Skills:

· Strong leadership and supervisory skills

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

· Ability to coordinate staff, schedules, and service delivery systems

· Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

· Ability to build professional relationships with staff, residents, families, and community partners

· Ability to encourage, support, and reinforce positive behavior and skill development

· Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, documentation systems)

· Ability to maintain professionalism in high-responsibility and crisis situations

Physical & Work Requirements:

· Ability to lift 50 pounds or more as needed

· Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, and assist residents with daily living activities

· Ability to remain active and mobile throughout shifts in a residential setting

· Ability to assist with household tasks and resident support needs

· Ability to respond to emergency or crisis situations as needed

· Ability to operate a vehicle for transportation of residents when required

· Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required

Certifications & Training Requirements:

· CPR and First Aid certification (required and maintained)

· CRT (Certified Restraint Training) certification (required and maintained)

· Preventing Disease Transmission (Bloodborne Pathogens) certification

· Core A & B Medication Administration training

· Ongoing participation in required agency and regulatory trainings

Requirements:

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in education, sociology, or related field preferred.

Management experience and experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
