Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, living in the Residential setting. The DSP is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, dignity, and well-being of the individuals served while supporting daily living, independence, community inclusion and fostering relationships within the community. This is an

Essential Worker role and a member of the Dreams with Wings team. The DSP reports to the manager of the Staffed Residence.

Professional Conduct & Expectations

As a Direct Support Professional, you are expected to act professionally and treat everyone with respect. This includes following agency policies, demonstrating honesty and transparency, and communicating clearly and respectfully with the individuals you support, their families, and your teammates. DSP’s are expected to be reliable by arriving on time, keeping commitments, and

following through on assigned tasks. You help create and maintain a positive work environment where each individual’s dignity, personal choices, and cultural values are respected.

Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation Reporting

The Direct Support Professional is a mandated reporter and is required to immediately recognize

and report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in accordance with agency policy and

state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- The DSP will fully embrace the Dreams with Wings Mission, Vision, and Core values.

- Provide supervision, care, and support to individuals while ensuring their safety and

well-being.

-Assist individuals with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, grooming,

dressing, ambulation, toileting, bathing, feeding, meal planning and preparation,

laundry, household tasks and assist with medical appointments.

- Support individuals with medication administration; only after required training.

- Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and the exercise of individual rights.

-Provide physical assistance, including lifting, as required.

- Support individuals with behavioral, physical, or medical needs, including crisis

intervention and emergency procedures.

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes, required

tracking sheets, and Incident/Critical Incident Reports.

- Attend required meetings and trainings.

- Promote healthy lifestyles and communicate concerns to supervisors as needed.

- Follow all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

- Participate in the Annual Dreams with Wings vacation for the individuals.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Emergency & Essential Worker Expectations

-Maintain consistent schedules to support continuity of care.

- Continue services during community emergencies when required.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Must be at least 21 years of age with one year of direct experience supporting

- Ability to lift individuals as required.

- CPR/First Aid certification required.

- Annual TB test required.

- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance required.

Preferred Experience

- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities

and/or autism.

Work Schedule

- Full-time or part-time.

- Evening, weekend, and additional hours may be required based on program needs.

-Maintain schedule continuity for individuals served

- Be available to support services during community emergencies, including working

at alternate locations when required
