Donlin Gold is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and safety-focused Geology Technician to join our Exploration team in Western Alaska. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting exploration activities at one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold deposits as it advances toward production.

The Geology Technician supports core facility and exploration operations through drill core handling, geological data collection, sample preparation, core cutting, and core storage activities. Working closely with geologists and exploration personnel, this role plays an important part in maintaining accurate geological records and ensuring field activities are completed safely and efficiently.

What You'll Do

Core Handling and Processing

• Receive drill core from active drilling programs and transport materials to designated processing and logging facilities
• Assist with unloading, organizing, and staging drill core for geological processing
• Ensure proper handling and preservation of geological materials and samples
• Maintain organization and inventory of core boxes and materials

Geological Data Collection and Sample Preparation

• Clean and prepare drill core for geological logging and evaluation
• Verify drill core box labeling and ensure data consistency and accuracy
• Collect and record geological measurements, including rock quality designation (RQD) and core recovery information
• Photograph core boxes according to established procedures
• Support geological data collection and documentation efforts

Sample Processing and Operational Support

• Assist with core cutting, sample preparation, labeling, and packaging
• Coordinate sample shipments and maintain sample tracking documentation
• Support organization and maintenance of long-term core storage facilities
• Assist with field operations and additional exploration activities as needed

Safety and Teamwork

• Maintain compliance with Company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures
• Participate in safety meetings and field-level risk assessments
• Promote a positive safety culture and identify potential hazards
• Perform additional duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in a remote field environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous mining, exploration, geology, or field operations experience
• Experience operating equipment such as skid steers, telehandlers, or utility vehicles
• Experience working in a remote camp environment
• Basic understanding of geological terminology and sampling procedures

Working Conditions

This position works on a rotational schedule at a remote Alaska work site and may require working in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment and drilling operations.

The role may require:

• Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods
• Climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds

Successful candidates must pass a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background clearance.
