Job Description
Own the delivery, profitability, and client experience of complex land development projects.
You’ll lead construction administration from pre-construction through closeout, guiding clients, contractors, and design teams across the Mid-Atlantic region.
About the Role
Bohler’s Herndon office (also considering locations: Richmond, Warrenton), serving the Mid-Atlantic area, is seeking a Civil Project Manager to lead construction administration for large, complex land development projects. You will own delivery from pre-construction through closeout, serve as the primary client and contractor contact, manage project profitability, and develop the professionals supporting the work.
What You’ll Do
- Lead High-Impact Projects — Manage large, complex Construction Administration projects from pre-construction through closeout, keeping delivery aligned with client expectations.
- Shape Project Strategy — Finalize project scopes and proposals, plan staffing and resources, and guide project execution.
- Bring Construction Insight to Design — Evaluate site conditions, risk, phasing, constructability, and safety considerations.
- Own the Client Experience — Serve as the primary contact for clients, construction managers, and contractors, guiding schedules, budgets, challenges, and decisions.
- Drive Financial Performance — Own project budgets, proposals, contract addenda, change orders, project P&Ls, accounts receivable follow-up, and coordination with in-house counsel.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines — Direct RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, site observations, and technical coordination with design teams, consultants, and Bohler’s Technical Resource Group.
- Mentor and Develop Others — Coach direct reports and less experienced Construction Administration and design staff while modeling accountability and strong project management practices.
What We Offer
- Full ownership of complex construction administration delivery, project financials, and client coordination
- A visible leadership role developing staff and strengthening project management practices
- Direct collaboration with design teams, technical leaders, clients, construction managers, and contractors
What You’ll Bring
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 6+ years of construction management or land development experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex project issues with clients, contractors, design teams, and reviewing agencies
- Sound professional judgment and the ability to solve problems with creativity, innovation, and a practical understanding of project risk
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects, priorities, and deadlines
- A proactive approach to coordinating work, following through on commitments, and collaborating with project teams
Ready to own complex project delivery, strengthen client partnerships, and develop the people around you? Bring your leadership to Bohler.
