Job Description
**Job Summary:**
The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans through relationship-based sales, referral development, and community engagement within an assigned market area. The MLO manages the loan relationship from initial borrower contact through application and underwriting submission, serving as the primary point of contact for borrowers, Realtors, attorneys, and referral partners. The MLO is also accountable for the accurate collection of borrower information, preparation of required disclosures, and compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, including TRID.
**Responsibilities:**
- Generate self-sourced mortgage loan applications through various referral sources.
- Conduct borrower consultations to assess financial needs and recommend appropriate mortgage products.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for borrowers and referral partners throughout the loan origination process.
- Complete and submit mortgage loan applications using the bank’s Loan Origination System (LOS).
- Collect, review, and validate borrower-provided documentation for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
- Prepare and issue required loan disclosures in compliance with TRID timing and content requirements.
- Actively manage assigned loan pipeline to ensure timely movement through underwriting and closing.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the bank’s Loan Origination System (LOS) and related mortgage technology platforms.
- Ensure all origination activities comply with bank policies and applicable regulations.
- Participate in audits, quality control reviews, and regulatory examinations as required.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent job experience and education.
- Two years of prior experience originating Conventional and Government loan products.
- Proficient math skills and computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time, solve problems, and maintain organizational skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations.
- Possession of a current driver’s license and vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required.
*Salary Range: $25.00 - $31.00 hourly depending on experience.*
