This is a senior actuarial leadership opportunity focused on delivering strategic insights across complex healthcare initiatives. You will serve as a trusted advisor to large employers, insurers, healthcare providers, and care solution organizations. The role combines advanced actuarial analysis with client leadership, strategic consulting, and the development of innovative analytical solutions. You will influence decisions related to financial strategy, product design, pricing, reserving, forecasting, and risk management. As a senior contributor, you will also mentor actuarial professionals and help shape the growth and capabilities of the broader practice. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact engagements at the intersection of healthcare, analytics, and business strategy.
You will lead complex actuarial engagements, oversee sophisticated analytical work, and provide strategic guidance to clients and internal teams.
- Serve as the primary actuarial advisor for complex healthcare initiatives and build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations that support executive-level decision-making.
- Oversee the development and delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality client deliverables.
- Direct the design, execution, and peer review of advanced actuarial analyses while maintaining professional standards.
- Develop and oversee assumptions, methodologies, and models supporting pricing, reserving, forecasting, and program evaluation.
- Lead the creation of scalable actuarial models, analytical tools, and innovative solutions.
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior and mid-level actuarial professionals.
- Partner with actuarial leadership on practice development and strategic initiatives.
- Foster collaboration across actuarial, consulting, analytics, and other cross-functional teams.
- Monitor emerging healthcare trends, funding arrangements, and care delivery models and assess their potential impact.
- Lead actuarial components of innovative product design, network optimization, care management evaluation, and related initiatives.
- Manage multiple priorities independently while ensuring projects remain aligned with client and business objectives.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines extensive healthcare actuarial expertise with strong analytical, leadership, communication, and client advisory capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, economics, or a related field.
- Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA) strongly preferred; ASA candidates with significant senior-level experience may also be considered.
- 12+ years of healthcare actuarial experience across areas such as commercial healthcare, stop-loss, health and welfare consulting, care management evaluation, reserving, pricing, pharmacy/PBM analytics, alternative funding, actuarial model development, and healthcare data.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, SAS, VBA, R, Python, or similar analytical technologies.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex datasets into meaningful business insights.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, managing client relationships, and advising senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive strategic initiatives through completion.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a commitment to developing actuarial talent.
- Ability to evaluate emerging healthcare trends and translate them into practical actuarial and business strategies.
