This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Business Development (Medical Information Services) based in the United States.
This is a strategic business development leadership role focused on expanding revenue and client partnerships within Medical Information Services. You will build and strengthen long-term relationships with life sciences organizations while identifying new opportunities for sustainable growth. The role combines consultative selling, market development, proposal strategy, contract negotiation, and executive-level client engagement. You will collaborate closely with marketing, client-facing teams, and internal stakeholders to translate market insights into effective sales strategies. Success in this position requires strong commercial judgment, confidence in customer-facing environments, and the ability to navigate complex business situations. - Develop and maintain long-term client relationships that expand the customer base, strengthen awareness of Medical Information Services, and generate profitable revenue growth.
- Identify market needs, generate leads, and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach, follow-up, networking, and targeted business development initiatives.
- Lead and support sales meetings, capability presentations, customer discussions, and other activities designed to communicate service value and convert prospects into clients.
- Research and participate in relevant conferences, trade shows, and industry events to increase market visibility, build relationships, and identify new commercial opportunities.
- Develop, write, and coordinate proposals for prospective clients, while supporting contract negotiations and managing the sales process through order close.
- Initiate and facilitate pre-work with prospective clients, including confidentiality agreements, master service agreements, statements of work, meeting preparation, and other requirements needed to progress opportunities.
- Serve as a key liaison between prospective clients and internal teams, coordinating capability presentations, teleconferences, proposal discussions, and other client-facing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, proposals, and sales activities within CRM and internal tracking systems, using data to monitor performance and support sales reporting.
- Partner with client-facing teams and Marketing to develop sales strategies informed by market research and competitive analysis, coordinate promotions and events, and execute targeted sales plans.
- Conduct consistent sales follow-up, maintain momentum throughout the sales cycle, and ensure communication remains coordinated across internal stakeholders.
- Participate in Business Development meetings and stakeholder discussions while contributing to broader commercial priorities and taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, combined with at least 5 years of sales or recruiting experience within the life sciences industry.
- Demonstrated experience selling or supporting Medical Information, patient support, commercial inquiry handling, or other extended medical information services.
- Strong business development capabilities, including lead generation, consultative selling, proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing complex opportunities.
- Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and maintain a strong customer focus throughout the sales cycle.
- Confident executive presence with strong presentation and communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with prospective customers and internal stakeholders.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to assess challenging business situations and develop effective strategic and functional solutions.
